Spider's Webs & Gossamer

It was Geoff's turn this week and 3 of us headed up through Elton and parked close to Rock Farm. Ike was hung over from his daughter's wedding the night before and was probably still in bed when we set off.
It was very misty when we set off and it just got worse the higher we got, so by the time we parked up alongside these old troughs we couldn't see much further than 100 yards. It was uphill to start through an old quarry a few tree's then quite a steep climb. This is where Geoff said the views from here would be wonderful on a clear day, we could see about 50 yards. We rested at the summit of a hill and had our breakfast behind a wall. The sun was trying to break through but failed. We carried on until we got back to Rock Farm and then eventually back to the car. On our way back home we saw Crich Stand in the distance covered with mist, we stopped and got a shot although it was miles away it was just about worth it.

Brilliant troughs where we parked. I would love to know how old these are.

Crich Stand swallowed under a thermal inversion.
Although it was misty and we missed the views and it was just over 3 miles it was a good morning out and we intend going back in clearer weather to see the wonderful vista's Geoff told us were really there!!
See you next week
