Frosty Crich Chase

The four of us together for the first time in several weeks after bouts of illness and holidays. Driving from my house to our Robs the temperature gauge was showing -5 degrees and obviously a very heavy frost. We set off at 07:30 ish and decided to have a wander around Crich Chase which is only 20 minutes up the road. We parked in the lay by on the A6 just south of Whatstandwell.
It was a short walk north then across the road and over the Chase railway bridge then over the canal bridge and up into the woods. This was a steep incline  through the woods and everyone was huffing and puffing with a couple of stops to catch our breath.

We came out onto a road where we found  very old mile post. We carried on over the fields following the footpath and then finally getting into the woods. The tree's were still covered in frost and everywhere just looked wonderful. Down through the woods and onto the canal, again everywhere just looked brilliant, the reflections in the water were magnificent. We walked as far as the canal goes before it peters out and comes to an end.

We met a very interesting chap who was a photographer looking for wildlife. We had a long chat while we were having our breakfast and then back along the canal to the car.

 This was a great walk designed to blow the cobwebs of too much Xmas food away. A beautiful crisp, frosty morning, although it was very cold it was well worth the effort to get out of bed.
