Bamford Edge and Ladybower Reservoir

Only 3 of us this week Rob was off medal hunting again so we decided to have a trip to Bamford Edge where I've been before but not Geoff or Ike. My turn to drive and it only took about 55 minutes to get to our parking spot on New Road at the top end of Bamford. There was already a car there when arrived and we met the occupant later. We got kitted up and over the style and off up the track, at first it was all high bracken and the path was narrow so we got our legs wet from the overnight rain. It opened out but it was a nice steady climb skirting around the first hill then steeper up the next where we came across abandoned millstones, one of them had the start of a central hole and the wheel must have been 5 feet across. From there it was just more leg work until we reached our target Great tor which overlooks Ladybower Reservoir. We had a good half hour here taking pics and just looking at the staggering scenery. We had our breakfast and were packing up when a photographer came along the track from the opposite direction. We got talking to him and he told us he was up at 03:00 and on Stannage Edge for 04:00 setting up and waiting for the sunrise. Now that's dedication.
We slowly made our way back down from the edge and back to the car.

Last look up to Bamford Edge.

 It was only just over a mile to the top and took about 40 minutes to get there a gentle climb to a max of 240 feet from the car. The weather started with grey clouds but changed later to blue skies and fluffy whites. A great little walk with stunning views everywhere. Sorry about some of the pics being similar just couldn't help myself but keep zapping.
