A Stroll around Ladybower to Wellhead

This week we were heading for the moors and looking for heather but unfortunately one of the access roads was blocked and no other obvious way in, so we decided a quick detour to Ladybower.
We parked on the access road before you get to Fairholmes, got booted up and walked down to the "beach" then across in front of the dam wall and walked up the road to a footpath to Wellhead. We passed an old red phone box which still works but there are only 2 houses there. We also passed a couple of old letter boxes marked GR and what looks like it could have been a chapel. It was a steady climb up what we thought was an old packhorse route towards Lanehead. We stopped beside a wall for shelter from the wind to have our breakfast and the views were fantastic.

Back to the car.
This was an unexpected walk because of the road blockage but we ended up on a path none of us had been to before. Although it was under 4 miles we thoroughly enjoyed it.
See you next week
