Roystone Rocks and Minninglow

Four of us this week but we had a substitute for our Rob who was out medal hunting. Geoff's daughter Sally came along and in fact she drove Geoff's car. I take it all back what I've said in the past about lady drivers, very good.
We decided today was Roystone Rocks day, we have tried 3 times but because of bad weather we've never made it. We parked in Minninglow car park about 07:10 and immediately saw the red glow from clouds over the trees in the car park. We got booted up and in the rain got out of the car park onto the road and just stood in awe looking at Minninglow with a fantastic sunrise behind it.It was drizzling and Ike decided to put his waterproof leggings on, well that was a comic strip in the making, couldn't get his boots through the legs without a struggle and had the cheek to ask sally to do up his fly. You know what the answer to that was!!! The footpath took a turn into a field and it was all uphill to Roystone Rocks, a bit of a slog in the long rough grass. The rain had stopped 5 minutes after he put his over trousers on and the sun was now giving a lovely warm glow to everything. We did a few pics and headed down the hill and ended up at Roystone Grange farm. We decided to take another footpath from there which again went straight up to the High Peak Trail. Once on the trail we just headed to the old crane where we had our breakfast. From the it was straight back to the car.
