Only 3 of us this week and with the sunrise at 08:15 am we had a late start and left Geoff's at 08:00. Our destination was Florence Nightingale's Seat in the middle of Lea Woods. We parked at Lea Bridge and after a short walk on the road we joined the footpath that took us up to the the filled in spur (Nightingale Arm) of the Cromford Canal that comes up from the Lock Keepers Cottage. We walked past the old loading bay and eventually ended up at the Lock Keepers Cottage. We then took the footpath up the hillside and after a long trek and a couple of wrong turnings through the woods we ended up at Florence's Seat. We had our breakfast close by then headed off back to the car.

A very frosty start then a bit of light rain just as we were having our breakfast. Although we got a bit lost in the woods by going off the footpath we did find our way to Florence's Seat. Just about 2 1/2 miles with a lot of ups and downs but still a nice morning out.
See you next week.
That's a very interesting walk!
