Lode Mill on the River Dove.

4 of us this week, Rob was driving and we set off at 07:15 and up the A6 to Cromford then onto Via Gelia, up past Pike Hall turned left onto the A515 for a couple of miles and parked up in a layby. We crossed the road and got onto the Tissington Trail until we reached Alsop Station. We wandered down the lane until we reached the bridge beside Lode Bridge and followed the footpath alongside the river Dove. We got to Coldeaton Bridge and turned right up the hill. After a couple of hundred yards we found a log to sit on and have our breakfast. From there it was a slog all the way uphill to eventually rejoin the Tissington Trail then the car.

Just over 4 miles a great little walk along the banks of the River Dove. It was bitterly cold and a fierce wind which nearly took me off my feet a couple of times. We could see a bit of snow on the hills in the distance and we got a bit of shelter from the wind when we got down in the Dale.
One or two people on the Tissington Trail but no one on the footpath alongside the river, we had that to ourselves.
See you next week.
