Fishing on the Erewash

This week unfortunately Geoff couldn't come so there were only 3 of us. Rob & Ike had bought a new  fishing rod each and thought we could have a walk along the canal and try out their rods at the same time.
The sky was glowing when i left home and after transferring to Ike's car we set off for the Great Northern Basin at Langley Mill. We got onto the canal and walked to Shipley Gate Lock with a bit of fishing along the way.
We had a good morning seeing very few people. we had a barge and a boat come by and even heard a green woodpecker in the distance. The highlight was Rob catching a Pike.
Enjoy the pics.

This is just a young pike but look at those teeth.

The river Erewash went under the canal at this point

This bit is the branch of the Nottingham canal.
This was a nice steady walk with a bit of fishing at the same time, we'll be doing the walk again later with Geoff.
Cheers
