Abney Moor and Bradwell Edge.

It was Rob's turn to dive this week and we headed back up to Abney, we wanted to continue the walk from last week and incorporate Robin Hood's Cross and Bradwell Edge.
As we went through Chatsworth Park the sun was just coming over the horizon and with the mist it felt just like an autumn dawn. We passed a herd of fallow deer that were just off the road, a magnificent sight in the early morning mist. We stopped at the Barrel Inn en route for a couple of pics, fantastic scenes, the mist was almost cleared bar a few pockets here and there and the sun was blazing down, in fact driving up the hill towards the Barrel Inn Rob had to stop because the sun was directly in front just above the road, completely blinding all of us.
We arrived at Abney but couldn't find anywhere to park in the village so we back tracked and found a patch on the verge just outside the village.
It was about 07:30 when we eventually got booted up and on our way. We had just got off the road and onto the track over Abney Moor when a van pulled up on the road and 4 blokes with a dog jumped out, they came and joined us and we walked with them for about a mile and had some good crack. They were very similar to us, went out on into the Peak District on Sundays, they were from Sheffield and one from Chesterfield.

This is looking towards the transmitter on the far hill where we sheltered from the wind and rain last week. You can just make out the mast just right of centre on the slope.

Just love these shots with the mist in between the hills.

Track over Abney Moor towards Robin Hood's Cross, the transmitter tower can be seen on the far right.

Ike, Rob & Geoff sharing a joke with Nigel from Chesterfield.

The 2 parties together.

Ike did this pic with me on it.

Bradwell edge with that ugly blot on the landscape.

We didn't realise this was a hang gliding area until we read this notice.

Me
We usually never see anyone on our early morning walks but this week we bumped into a great bunch of lads walking and then later on a couple of para gliders. The para boys didn't get airborne until we were on our way back and the pic was shot from about half a mile away.
One thing we didn't find was Robin Hood's Cross which i think is the name of a place rather than an object.
When we set out from Rob's the temperature was only 3 degrees but it quickly warmed up on the walk until we got to Bradwell edge where the wind chill made it cold again.
Just over 4 miles a cracking morning with the deer being a real bonus.
See you next week.
