River Dove & Biggin Dale

3 of us this week and it was Ike's turn to drive, so we set off at 06:00, through Ashbourne and parked up in a lay by on the A515 just south of Rivendale. We just crossed the road onto the disused railway track now the Tissington Trail and turned right until we got to the bridge and went down the ramp onto the road. We carried on down Liffs road for a couple of hundred yards then got onto the footpath on the left of the road that lead us down to the River Dove. Lots of little waterfalls along the river and some lovely views especially when we got towards Biggin Dale. We saw a family of ducks with the little ones getting up over a small waterfall. We turned off from the river path and went into Biggin Dale. This has got to be one of my favourite dales especially this time of the year when all the wild flowers and trees are in bloom, even saw some Early Purple Orchids. The path up from Biggin Dale comes out on the other end of Liffs Road. We walked down the road for a while then along Back Lane until we reached the Tissington Trail and from there straight back to the car.

This was a lovely walk just over 5 miles with some breathtaking views along the river and up through Biggin Dale. We got a bit of rain and a bit of sunshine and a lot of heat, great morning.
See you next week
