Bradford Dale & Youlgrave

After a week missing through a foot injury i rejoined Ike & Rob for an outing to Bradford Dale. Geoff was returning from his holiday in Scotland so it was just the three of us.
We parked up in Alport and the first thing we saw was an old phone box with a new lease of life. It now housed a defibrillator. We crossed the road and followed the footpath which lead us to Bradford Dale and the river Bradford. A pleasant walk along the river with lots of wild life to see, then a circular route back through the village of Youlgrave.

Youlgrave Old Hall built  in 1650

Thimble Hall (private) – according to the Guinness Book of Records, the world’s smallest detached house. I was told there used to be a family of eight lived in there!!!

The Fountain, the circular water storage tank built in 1829 for the village’s own private water supply, is in the centre of the village.
