Upper Padley Lawrence Field and the Ravers Camp

We missed last week due to holidays, injury and sickness. Only 3 of us this week as Ike has a foot injury which may keep him out for several weeks.
We had no plan so we just headed towards Longshaw estate. We travelled up in Robs car and parked up on the lay by at the back end of Longshaw. When we got out of the car we thought we've never been down through Padley Gorge from this end so off we went. We could hear music and heavy drums beating away in the distance as we walked down to the footbridge over the Burbage Brook. After walking down through the woods we changed route and started going uphill and ended up in a quarry where we climbed to the top and that's when we got the blast from the music. Sticking to the track through the birch trees we eventually ended up at an all night rave party. There was fires, dancing, Gabba music and a lot of fun going on. You just couldn't help but start moving to the beat. The people themselves were brilliant, very friendly and just wanted to talk to us, we even got interviewed for their blog. From there we found the old millstones scattered all around and had our breakfast. It was a short walk from there to Owler Tor and back across Burbage Brook then to the car.

A short walk this week of just over 2 miles but oh was it great, we met some cracking kids and had a great time talking to them, i think they were more interested in us than we were of them. I might dig my tent out and go on these weekend raves, not sure if I'll be inhaling from balloons though.
See you next week
