Just 3 of us this week myself, Rob and Ike and with a beautiful start to the day we opted for one of the Edges so we could get in some views. We set off at 06:00 with Rob driving and we went through Hathersage, up the Dale and parked up next to the footpath that lead us to Stanage Edge. I was a straight forward walk up to the trig point but we were held up on the way to watch a couple of Ring Ouzels, it was great watching their antics flitting about. We got up to the trig point with fantastic views all around then we decided to go over to Higger Tor and find the KitKat Stones. Its quite a climb up those steps to get to the top of Higger Tor, when we got there it was a sit down and have our breakfast, what a view from the breakfast table. Even the sheep came over to pose for my camera. After breakfast we walked along the edge until we found the KitKat stones you can hardly miss them, 3 large rocks about 6 feet long and 1 foot wide lying together like the 3 fingers of a KitKat. From there we carried on around the edge until we got to the path that lead us down to the road and across the road straight on a steady climb all the way to the car.

This was a cracking little walk in beautiful weather where we either saw or heard:- Ring Ouzels, Cuckoo, Lapwing, Curlew, Skylark, grouse, what more can you ask for. Apologise for some of the bird pics they were quite some distance off and just had the short zoom lens on.
