Chee Dale and the Stepping Stones

4 of us this week and Robs turn to drive. We've planned to go to Chee Dale for a few weeks now and eventually decided today is the day. We had been a few years ago and the last time we went the river level was above the stepping stones. We set off as usual at 06:00, stopped for a quick shot of the Mill  and went straight up the A6 through Bakewell and parked up at the lay by above the Blackwell Mill cottages. It was quite cold only 2 degrees and it was a steep decent down to the Monsal Trail and we walked along that through to the tunnels until we got to the Abseiling bridge where we went down to the river level.  We found a spot for our breakfast and when we turned around there were 2 highland cattle close to us behind a gate. We bumped into a couple of rock climbers on our way back and had a long chat with them. Getting back up the hill to the car park was a killer but the weather had picked up with stunning views.

A cracking walk not quite 4 miles but some very rough surfaces and a couple of scrambles. Started off at just 2 degrees and finished about 13 degrees.
See you next week.
