Hope to Lose Hill

Well after last weeks trip to Mam Tor we thought we would finish off the ridge by doing the other end of it on Lose Hill. It was Ike's turn to drive and we left just after 06:00. We parked up at Hope church at exactly 07:00, got booted up and set off. the first section was along the road to Townhead Bridge. From there it was on tracks to Lose Hill summit and from the road level it was a difference of 1020 feet in height, needless to say a couple of stops for breathers on the way up was essential for us old uns. It was -1 when we set off and when we got on the hill there was a lot of frost about and you could see where the snow had been through the night although it was disappearing fast in the bright sun. The views going up were magnificent and when we got to the top it was a complete 360 degree view, just stunning. I did several photos from the top with my pocket camera with the long zoom, one of the shots was to Peveril Castle and it was almost 1 3/4 miles for where we were, these little camera's are just unbelievable. The other shot was Hope Cross which was 1 1/3 miles away and you can even see two people at the nearby gate.

We bumped into a load of Duke of Edinburgh Award troops doing there thing, this group had come down from Mam Tor in the distance.

 This was another cracking walk, just under 5 miles with stunning scenery. I recon if you only had to climb one hill in Derbyshire for the scenery this would be my choice.
