Baslow Edge and the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire

I missed last week through illness so i was looking forward to seeing the guys.It was my turn to drive and the consensus was for us to visit the grave of the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire on our way through Chatsworth Park. It was dark when we set off and the temperature dropped to 0 degrees as we got to Edensor where the grave is.
After paying our respects we set off to Baslow Edge and parked by the roadside. We chatted to a Scotsman for a while who came out of his camper van. When we got up to Baslow edge the scene below was stunning, everything was shrouded in mist in the morning light. We strolled along the edge stopping to take pics and stopped for our breakfast sitting on a couple of very cold boulders.
After brekki we walked a bit further onto the famous Eagle Stone and then then back along the upper trail to the car.
We had a bit of spare time so we called into the Peak Rail complex on the way back home and the first thing we saw as we approached the gate was a sparrow hawk feeding off a pigeon, he didn't take kindly to us disturbing his meal. We had a wander around the complex then headed back home.

This rock looks like some kind of giant tortoise

This rock has a huge dish shape hollowed out of it by natural erosion.

This was quite a short walk but very enjoyable with some brilliant scenes from Baslow Edge.
It was a very crisp morning and when we drove through Chatsworth Park the house was totally obscured by the mist. A cracking morning.
See you next week.
