Upper Hackney and the waterfalls of Sydnope Brook

We missed last week because 2 couldn't get but we are back to full strength this week with a 5th honorary member, this is Sally, Geoff's daughter.
My turn to drive and we went off at 07:00 in the mist and went up to Upper Hackney which is just the other side of Matlock.
Geoff had got this walk planned, part of which he had not been on and he said it'll be good going no mud etc. Well he told fibs!!
Out of the car and booted up we just went up the hill to get onto a track and then a footpath. When we got to a descent elevation above the mist the valley below was just a wonderful sight with a thermal inversion to give it the proper name. we went through woods past quarries and then down towards Sydnope Brook. We past several small waterfalls and a couple of 20 footers and one of quite large scale. Unfortunately the light was not to good to get the best out of these and i was desperate for a tripod. We stopped for breakfast at a seat Rob had found then it was an uphill trek and back towards the car.

This was a great little walk just over 4 miles taking in some cracking views. When we got back to Belper it was still misty.
see you next week.
